ParakeetAI desktop app won't launch on Windows — "Cannot find native binding" error

Has anyone else run into this? Fresh install of the ParakeetAI desktop app on Windows, and it crashes immediately on launch with a JavaScript error dialog (screenshot attached).

The error says:

Error: Cannot find native binding. npm has a bug related to optional dependencies. Please try npm i again after removing both package-lock.json and node_modules directory.

...which is obviously a developer-facing message that shouldn't be reaching end users — you can't run npm i inside a packaged Electron app.
